Interviews and Public Speaking

Public speaking, does anyone like it? I have my trouble with this issue over the years.
The anxiety it can generate is overwhelming.  

I’d always been shy as a kid, never one to put my hand up in class at school, desperately wanted to but never felt confident enough. This followed me all through my life. In jobs and at training events I wanted to speak easily, freely and intelligently like everyone else seemed to be able to do, but I just couldn’t do it. I’d sit there trying to build up the confidence to say something, anything! But often the moment passed and then I’d beat myself up afterwards on the way home at how ridiculous I was. Why wasn’t I like everyone else?

I got married just over 2 years ago now and I know how stressful, even daunting, a wedding day can be. It’s all exciting and going along wonderfully, all the plans are coming to fruition and then all of a sudden, once everything has been booked and confirmed, paid for and fitted, ordered and delivered, the big day is just around the corner and you’ve been so busy sorting everything that you’ve left yourself mentally unprepared for the biggest day of your life! Panic can set in, worries about what might go wrong instead of thinking how amazing it really going to be. So if you’re the bride to be, or the groom (they have the same things going on in their lives right now too remember), would you like to enjoy the build up to your special day without the anxiety, the restless nights?

Antidepressants – and coming off them. This is my story…

Has life ever got just too much to cope with? Been holding everything together but feeling on a knife edge, just one step away from completely losing your mind? That’s just how I found myself for the second time in my life. I’d been on antidepressants once before 10 years previously; l felt suicidal and they saved me; Citalopram, the little tablet I used to get through a horrid period of my life.
